Jazz90.1 and Rochester Indie Musician Spotlight are pleased to announce a partnership bringing the popular series to our listeners the first Saturday of each month at 9 p.m. on air, and online. The program – hosted by Jazz90.1 DJ and Journalist Dan Gross will debut on Saturday February 3 and feature Rochester bassist Danny Ziemann. Each show will include both interview and performance segments with area musicians.

Rochester’s premiere music interview and performance show, the Rochester Indie Musician Spotlight is dedicated to showcasing Rochester’s nationally recognized local and independent music scene. The Spotlight achieves its goal by combining “Off Camera with Sam Jones,” “NPR: Tiny Desk,” and “Austin City Limits.”

Dan Gross is a graduate of SUNY Oswego with Bachelor of Fine Arts, and double majored in Broadcasting and Music. Although Dan began his schooling looking to become a sports broadcaster, he decided to focus on music as his schooling continued. Dan has experience in radio, and as a reporter and contributor for college publications as well as The Democrat and Chronicle.

“We are very excited to partner with Dan on this project, giving musicians another outlet for performance, and our listeners another opportunity to learn about the many gifted musicians within the Rochester area,” said Station Manager Rob Linton.

Jazz90.1 is one of the last 24/7/365 jazz stations in the country. The radio station is owned by The Greece Central School District; however, it must raise all operating funds annually through member and business donations.
