Jazz90.1 is once again proud to salute influential African-American jazz musicians during the month of February. In celebration of Black History Month, Jazz90.1 FM will honor a different African-American jazz musician every day in February. A biographical vignette will be broadcast four times each day Monday through Friday at 7:30 a.m. 12:30, 4:30, and 8:30 p.m. Vignettes will also be repeated during weekend programming. Each vignette will be followed by a selection of that artist’s music. The artists selected represent a variety of instruments, ages, and levels of achievement, but each has a story to tell and each has contributed significantly to the growth and enhancement of jazz music. Jazz90.1 hopes listeners will take this opportunity to learn more about and recognize the significant contributions of individual African-American jazz musicians. Featured musicians will include Hugh Masekela, Lee Morgan, Catherine Russell, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Joe Williams and more. See below for a complete list of featured artists.
