Jazz90.1 WGMC-FM has again been named Station of the Year by JazzWeek. The award was given during the annual industry summit in San Jose, California on Thursday, and was accepted by Station Manager Rob Linton. Jazz90.1 – along with five other jazz radio stations in the United States who play 40 or more hours per week of jazz – were nominated for this award by other jazz stations, recording artists, record promoters and record labels.

“We are honored to receive this award, and we are grateful for the support that we receive from the many people in this industry who like us, keep jazz music alive,” said Station Manager Rob Linton. “Winning this award recognizes the hard work done each day by our amazing staff and volunteers. This is a true testament to their passion for this music, and for broadcasting.”

Jazz90.1 has previously won JazzWeek awards for Station of the Year, and Music Director Derrick Lucas has also previously won awards for Programmer of the Year.

Jazz90.1 is one of the last 24/7/365 jazz stations in the country. The radio station is owned by The Greece Central School District; however, it must raise all operating funds annually through member and business donations.
