Oscar Peterson Intl Jazz Festival – Jon Faddis
February 16, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST
$55 – $100As the world’s first (and only!) jazz festival bearing the name of Canada’s greatest jazz artist, the Oscar Peterson International Jazz Festival will honour and celebrate his legacy of excellence.
The opening night concert International All-Star Jazz at the Philharmonic features multiple GRAMMY Award winners Cécile McLorin Salvant, Jon Faddis, Jimmy Greene, Michael Dease, Benny Green, Christian McBride, and Kenny Washington.
“Jon Faddis is a complete virtuoso and was born with a special gift for playing the trumpet. He was recognized early on in his career as Dizzy Gillespie’s protege. Diz was an important person in OP’s life, a dear friend and someone with whom Oscar recorded numerous times. There was a series of trumpet duet albums that Oscar recorded: with Dizzy, with Clark Terry and also with a young man who was new on the scene at that time, and that young man was Jon Faddis!”
