Jazz90.1 WGMC-FM is pleased to announce three free summer jazz concerts to be held on the grounds of Greece Olympia School – 1139 Maiden Lane. The series will include performances by The Greece Jazz Band on Monday June 18, Jon Seiger and The All-Stars on Wednesday July 11, and Swing Dynasty on Tuesday August 21. All three concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Founded by saxophonists Karl and Erik Stabnau, Swing Dynasty is a fresh take on the big band sound of the 1920’s – 1940’s paying homage to greats such as Ellington, Basie, Miller, Goodman, and Armstrong. The ten member ensemble is smaller than a traditional 18 piece big band making it more nimble and spontaneous without losing the sonic punch of the extra musicians. Swing Dynasty’s musicians have performed with artists including: The Woody Herman Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, The O’Jays, Johnny Mathis, Bobby Rydell, Lou Christie, Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Clark Terry, James Moody, Terrell Stafford, Peter Erskine, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own.” **Concerts will be moved indoors to the air conditioned Greece Olympia auditorium if weather doesn’t allow for an outdoor performance.**
