Oscar Peterson Intl Jazz Festival – Michael Dease
February 16, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST
$55 – $100As the world’s first (and only!) jazz festival bearing the name of Canada’s greatest jazz artist, the Oscar Peterson International Jazz Festival will honour and celebrate his legacy of excellence.
The opening night concert International All-Star Jazz at the Philharmonic features multiple GRAMMY Award winners Cécile McLorin Salvant, Jon Faddis, Jimmy Greene, Michael Dease, Benny Green, Christian McBride, and Kenny Washington.
“Born in Augusta, Georgia, Michael Dease is one of the top trombonists on the scene today. He has a gorgeous tone, and a flawless technique that never stands in the way of his music. He recently won the 64th Annual DownBeat Magazine Critic’s Poll for Rising Star Jazz Trombonist. Michael’s latest release, ‘All These Hands’ traces the story of the spread of jazz throughout the USA, from New Orleans, up through the Midwest and up the Eastern Seaboard, paralleling the African American Northern Migration.”
