Al Meilutis

Al Meilutis has always been involved in the community and it was no surprise when he joined forces with Ray Serafin as a volunteer co-host of the popular Polka Bandstand Show on Jazz90.1. From 1994 – early 2023, Al brought his love of Polka music and his love of people to the microphone every week. Following Ray Serafin’s passing in 2023, Al retired from his on air role, but still volunteers behind the scenes for Jazz90.1.

Al’s dedication and commitment to the community is demonstrated through his affiliation and active participation in numerous organizations. Since 1997 he has served as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Greece and has been the Chairman of that Board since July 2009.  In 1998 he joined the Rotary Club of Greece and served a 1-year term as the Clubs President from July 2014 through June, 2015.  Additionally has been a member of the Greece Chamber of Commerce and served as the Chairman of the Board for that organization from 2009 -2011, a time period when the Chamber’s membership was nearly 800 business members strong. In 2012, Al was recognized as the Business Person of the Year by the Greece Chamber of Commerce.

Aside from his affection for Polka music, Al serves as the President of Greece Community Broadcasting Inc, an organization that is committed to community based radio, and the betterment of Jazz90.1 (WGMC).  He is also life member of the International Polka Association.

Previously, Al had served on the Advisory Board for the Children’s Hospital at Strong Memorial Hospital, and as a director for the Park Ridge Hospital Foundation and on the Board of the Park Ridge Health Systems.  In 1980 he was appointed to the Town of Greece Planning Board for seven years until he was elected as a Councilman for the Town of Greece in November 1987.

Al retired in August 2023 as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Metro Mattress. 

Al and his wife, Judy, reside in the Town of Greece.
