Brian has been involved in the Rochester music scene as a drummer for over 40 years as a musician, live DJ and music educator. He is currently the Director of Bands at Greece Athena High School and holds a Bachelors and Masters from Nazareth College in music education. As a musician in town, Brian has played with many of Rochester’s finest jazz musicians, and is so thankful for those experiences. As an educator, Brian feels it is important to give his students the opportunity to experience and perform all types of jazz music. The Athena Jazz Ensemble has been featured on the Jazz90.1 Live Concert Series in the past, and is always a fan favorite at the Rochester International Jazz Festival. Brian’s has a vast list of musical influences in the jazz idiom, and loves all styles of jazz from bebop to vocal jazz to straight-ahead to big band and groove jazz too. He continues to expand his jazz horizons and discover new music constantly. It’s a life long journey. Hear Brian every Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. on Jazz90.1.
