Mike Whittemore received a table top radio for his fifth birthday from his Grandma, and never looked back. After graduating from Ithaca College, Mike spent 47 years in broadcasting, doing everything from working as a DJ to creating, selling, and voicing radio ad campaign for local businesses. As a DJ, Mike spent time at WHCU in Ithaca, Top 40 at WELM in Elmira, country and beautiful music at WQIX/WIQT in Horseheads, A/C at WEOK in Poughkeepsie, sports at WROC and WBBF, A/C at WVOR, and host of The Home Repair Clinic at 1180 WHAM in Rochester.
Mike still writes and voices ads for businesses across the country. He also writes and voices message on hold programs for local and regional businesses. Mike is thrilled join the team of excellent volunteers at Jazz90.1 WGMC, and looks forward to spreading the gospel of jazz throughout our community.
