Rob Linton joined the Jazz90.1 family in November of 2004 as Station Manager. Since then, his goal has been to keep this great radio station alive and well, broadcasting great jazz, blues and specialty programs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Rob came to Jazz90.1 from 1180 WHAM in Rochester, New York where he served as News Anchor, Producer and Public Service Director. He began with WHAM when he was just 18 years old, and a freshman in college. His work at iHeartMedia (owner of 1180 WHAM and 6 other local radio stations) also included the role of Promotions Coordinator for 106.7 KISS FM, Mix 100.5, Sunny 102.3, Radio 95.1, Sports Radio 1280 AM and 107.3 FM The Bull.
Before coming to WHAM, Rob worked briefly at WWWG 1460AM as a producer and DJ while still in high school.
Over the years, Rob has reported on events such as the September 11th terrorist attacks, numerous elections, ice storms, and many other local events. His voice has also been heard on iHeart Radio stations in Rochester, as well as WXXI-AM 1370. Television work includes stints with 13 WHAM-TV and WXXI-TV.
Rob is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Oswego where he obtained a Master’s degree in Vocational Education, St. John Fisher College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Journalism, and Monroe Community College where he earned an Associates degree in Television and Photography. He holds a New York State teaching certification in Media Communications.
Rob has taught radio and television broadcasting to high school students in the Greece Central School District and Digital Communication/Media Production courses at the WEMOCO Career and Technical Education Center – the same program he graduated from while in high school. Rob is also a Professor of Communications at St. John Fisher College, and has previously taught at Monroe Community College and Nazareth College.
He began his own mobile disc jockey service – Special FX DJ Service by Rob Linton – at age 17 which he operates in full force today, playing weddings, graduations and other events.
Rob is also a former board member of the Monroe 2-Orleans Education Foundation and Hilton Education Foundation.
