Tom is a retired Kodaker (Who isn’t?). He has been a member and a fan of JAZZ 90.1 for a long time. As a matter of fact that is how his interest in Jazz developed. Listening to knowledgeable people, live on the air, talking through their favorite music and artists got him hooked. And then one day, he heard that the station was looking for volunteer fill-in DJs, who would sit in during the day when needed. And having harbored a long-standing desire to be a DJ, since he was a kid, he gave it a shot. And it has been a ball. The only daunting factor about the job is which ones of the thousands of songs are you going to play each day. And new ones keep appearing. But, then again, what a great problem to have.
In his spare time, he is a part of an exercise group that works out 5 times a week. They used to do it indoors, but for the last two years, they have moved it outside all year round. Of course, exercising outdoors, enjoying nature, is one thing when it is sunny, and 70 degrees. The enjoyment lessens as the temperature drops and the wind picks up. They have established a wind chill of 20 as a deal breaker. They’re a plucky group but not insane.
Hear Tom every Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. only on Member Supported Jazz90.1.
